Shoreline review

I ate at Shoreline with my mum and granddad, who was visiting from Scotland at the time. The view was lovely, 3 massive windows lining the walls facing out to sea. One of them has blinds, which I think they pull down at night. If you sit right by the window, you can look out and see the people walking along the beach, because it is elevated from the seafront, which makes it very unique as it is the only one in Paignton. They have beautiful light features, which they have on even in the day, but I don't think they need them because the windows alone let in enough light.  They also have balcony which you can eat outside on with a spectacular view, even if it is a bit cold in the winter. The staff are very friendly, and is easy and pleasant to talk to them over the phone, and in the restaurant itself to book a table. It also allows well behaved dogs to come in, which gives it a more family friendly vibe. You have to go up and order your own meal, but in my opinion it is quite clever that way, because you don't get a waitress bugging you every 5 minutes, asking you if you're ready to order yet. I ordered a lasagne which came on a wooden board with a salad.  Everything is made from scratch which is quite good considering how fast it came to us. The thing that I picked up on is that you had no option if you had salad or something else, like chips. It would be nice if you had an option in case you are ordering it for a child, because children are quite likely to want chips over salad.

They have a good range of foods you can try, including a specials board that changes daily, and also offers fresh fish from the bay itself. The range for adults is very simple, yet also has some daring options, but a bit to daring for children. The childrens menu however provides home cooked simple meals that any child, or adult would love, but they come smaller than the adult ones, which makes it easier for children to manage.

The lasagne was bubbling with oil and very hot. It had good, clear layers of pasta and meat, with melted cheese on top. It was very thick and creamy, with bubbling oil around the edges. The meat was very well cooked and had a fair amount of sauce with it, while the pasta was cooked well enough so it wasn't to melted, but not hard, and the whole thing was very hot. The staff came over and cleared our plates away pretty quickly, and then the owner came over and chatted with us and was extremely friendly.

About a week later I went back with my mum, dad and my 2 dogs. This time we only went in for a drink so we sat on the elevated part of the restaurant in the middle, with about 8 black squishy sofas, and glass tables. I sat down on one sofa and my mum sat down on the opposite one while dad ordered. This time we only went in for drinks, and it was less busy because it was raining but it was still a pleasant experience. The hot chocolate I ordered came with marshmallows, whipped cream covering the marshmallows and sprinkled with coco powder. It came in a very tall glass, but wasnt that hot so you could drink it straight away. I usually add another sugar to my hot chocolates but I didn't have to this time because it was so sweet.

Compared to other places, a little over average price, but the overall experience is worth it. I think that the atmosphere has huge potential and could go a long way, if they just added some bright colours, put some candles on the tables and advertised itself a bit more, it would be the number one restaurant in Paignton.

Sorry for the delay on this review blog readers, I have been a bit tied up with everything and to make up for it I am going to review 2 restaurants outside Paignton. Sorry for the delay on this review, I will try to write my next one faster, thanks for all your support, Jessie xx
